Provided you use the oil responsibly and with caution, then coriander seed oil is unlikely to cause any serious side effects. Make sure that you dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to your skin and we do not recommend taking the oil orally. Pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding should err on the side of caution and avoid using the oil.
While you can ingest the oil, you should not do so without the go-ahead of a doctor. The oil should not be used by pregnant women because of its stimulating effects to the muscles. Perform a patch allergy test to make sure that the oil will not irritate the skin. Apply a small amount to the site and wait a couple hours to see if the oil triggers any adverse effects.
You should never apply the oil topically without mixing it with another essential oil as well as a safe carrier oil. Safe carrier oils include coconut oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, or olive oil.
This oil is considered to be nontoxic and non-irritating when used properly. Do not use the oil in high doses as it can lead to skin problems or intestinal distress. You should always apply the oil in moderation as a little amount can go a long way. *
